Southwest No-Shows to Get No Refunds

Beginning tomorrow, September 13, most Southwest flyers who fail to cancel their reservations within ten minutes of their flights' departure times and are not onboard when the flights depart will

forfeit the amount paid for all flights

    remaining in the reservations.

In other words, use it, cancel it, or lose it.

The new policy applies to Wanna Get Away and Ding! fares, but could also lead to forfeiting Business Select or Anytime funds if the reservation includes segments booked at those fares.

The policy does not cover Rapid Rewards award bookings or companion pass bookings.

Although less lenient than the old rule, Southwest's new policy is eminently fair and still more customer-friendly than most other airlines'.
