Today, we at SmarterTravel must bid farewell to one of our own. Senior Editor Molly Feltner is leaving the company to move to Rwanda and pursue a freelance career covering humanitarian issues in Africa. Molly has long dreamed of combining two of her passions—journalism
and a desire to experience the world—and needless to say we are thrilled she is able to do so.
Molly joined SmarterTravel in March 2003. Since then, she has, at various times, headed our Student, Senior, and Family sections. More recently she oversaw our Special Reports, Blogs, and Travel Advice efforts. She has contributed major written pieces throughout her tenure here, and organized this past year’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
Behind the scenes, Molly was an indispensible member of the staff. Her dedication to quality reporting and her reader-first attitude set the standard for all of us, and her wisecracking sense of humor kept the atmosphere light on busy days. It is safe to say her departure creates not a vacancy but a void, an absence we will try to fill but certainly never erase.
So it is with a mix of pride and sadness that we wave goodbye and reflect on her myriad contributions. Molly, from all of us here, best of luck to you. Safe travels.
Compiling a “greatest hits” list of Molly’s work was difficult (she’s published well over 200 articles for SmarterTravel), but nevertheless, please check out these highlights from her six years with us.
