The pound isn’t doing us Yanks any favors these days, and even without the brutal exchange rate, London is a pricey city, so discounts count more than ever. Here’s a quick rundown on some of the ways to save on theater tickets in London.
National Theatre
The National Theatre offers a number of ways to avoid paying full price. Children under 18, groups, and seniors are eligible for discounted tickets to performances. And if you’re flexible, you can stop by and try to pick up discounted day-of, standing-room, or standby seats.
The National also has free exhibitions and free music performances year-round.
Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre
The Globe offers a variety of discounts on its tickets, including £10 off top-price tickets to some initial performances, discounts for group bookings, and savings for families. The theater also offers concessions to those under 16. Plus, there are 700 standing-room tickets for each performance available for £5 each.
More theater ticket discounts
The Society of London Theatre, which runs the half-price tkts ticket booths, also lists special offers on its website. To buy half-price, same-day tickets, visit the tkts ticket booths in Leicester Square or Canary Wharf.
VisitLondon.com lists more ways to save on theater, movie, and music tickets.
