Visitors can get to Salalah from Dubai via several types of transportation including bus, car or plane. Many tourists find it is best to fly because driving takes a long time and is not particularly interesting.

Bus Transportation to Salalah

You can travel to Salalah from Dubai via Muscat by using bus transportation. From Dubai, you catch a bus to Muscat for approximately $13. Upon reaching Muscat, you need to change to a bus going to Salalah. Travel time is five hours to Muscat and an additional 10 to 14 hours to Salalah which may discourage some travelers. However, bus is the most affordable method of traveling. Once arrived, you will have to take a taxi to travel within the city because there are no buses there to ride.

Travel by Car

Renting a car is another way to travel to Salalah. It is bit more expensive than a bus. Prices range from OM 12 to OM 15 per day. Some companies offer free mileage while others do not. It takes about 8 to 9 hours to drive from Dubai. For an enjoyable few days or weekend, drive and stop for food and to enjoy the scenery. The most scenic part of the trip is the last hour or two. Before that time, the land is very flat. Don’t travel without some food and drink packed away. You may not find a place to stop with readily available restaurants for you to pick up a meal.

Flying to Salalah

Flying is definitely more efficient and the best way to travel, however it is the most expensive.
