Safety Tips in Nashville – Travel Safety Tips

Nashville Warnings and Dangers

Downtown Nashville, Tennessee is considered by some to be the home of country music, giving birth to some amazing country legends. However, there are dangers and warnings here you should be aware of when traveling to stay safe.

Areas to Avoid

Exercise extreme caution if you book a room in the vicinity of Trinity Avenue. The hotels in this area are very cheap. Make sure to avoid the area completely, or if you must stay here, bring all valuables in from the car and keep your door locked even if someone knocks, especially after dark. This area is rampant in prostitution, drug activity, and robberies. There are a number of bars in this area that have live music venues. Many of the same seedy people target the music shows to hustle money for drugs. It is recommended that you stay clear of these establishments too if possible.

Weather

Nashville, Tennessee gets an occasional tornado and is prone to heavy rains. Tornado safety can be a frightening thing, especially if you have children. One traveler recalls a tornado touching down just a half mile away. The hotel guests were instructed to hide under tables with their children wrapped in the tablecloths to protect them from dangerous debris. Scary indeed! Also, be prepared during the summer for torrential downpour with a very short notice to take cover. It can go from sunny and clear to thundering and lightening in very little time.
