    On December 2,

    Royal Caribbean

returned to its New Orleans homeport. The

    Grandeur of the Seas

will sail seven-night western Caribbean itineraries from New Orleans through April 28, 2007. Ports-of-call include Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; and Grand Cayman Island. Fares start at $399 per person for an inside cabin.

Clearly, the New Orleans port is open for business.

    Carnival

    and

    Norwegian

ships have been sailing from the Big Easy already this fall. The

    Queen Elizabeth 2

paid a visit to the port, and

    Princess

has planned a few December sailings out of the southern city.

If you're planning a cruise from New Orleans this winter, or if you're thinking about it, consider extending your vacation with a pre- or post-cruise stay. The city could use your business, and you'll have a great time rediscovering this still-thriving town.
