Reconnecting with my Hometown — Washington D.C.

We stayed at my friend’s apartment in Virginia while he was in Israel. The restaurants in Virginia are eclectic and wonderful. A mix of all ethnic foods. My husband and I love to sample all kinds of food and we did sample them all.

We decided to use the Metro wherever we went and it was a wonderful experience. The Metro was clean and on time and such a breeze to use. I grew up in D.C. and when I was a teenager, I use to go downtown every weekend – on the bus! The Metro wasn’t even a twinkle in anyone’s eye then.

I found it so enjoyable to visit the places that I used to go to when I was a child. Seeing them through my husband’s eyes was a joy to me. We love our Nation’s Capital, going to the museums and strolling in the parks. We were very lucky that the weather wasperfect becausethere is nothing more beautiful than Washington, D.C. on a sunny, cool day. The seat of our Government in front of us gave me a warm sense of pride.

It was a great vacation and I am glad that our friends were busy – reconnecting with my husband was much better.
