Puerto Morelos Transportation
Puerto Morelos is a seaport that sits along the east coast of Mexico. It is the oldest and largest seaport in the state, and is well connected to the outside world.
Travel There by Bus
To get to Puerto Morelos from Cancun, take the R-1 bus line from the hotel area. The Cancun bus station is clean and the costs are quite affordable. When you arrive in Puerto Morelos, you can take a taxi to the beach for just 20 pesos. Visitors should also know there is a class of bus known as the Primera Clase, which is a deluxe style bus. It is equivalent to a Greyhound, with reserved seats and baggage check. These buses also have toilets and TV, although the TV’s sometimes are not used or the TV show is in Spanish.
Travel There by Car or Van
Travel to the city can also be done by rented car. These vehicles can be as cheap as $49 per day, or $380 for a car for a full week. You can pick up your car from the airport. Following some brief paperwork, you’ll be able to head out on the road.
Another option from Cancun or Playa del Carmen is a colectivo, which is a shared minivan service. As a shared service, the colectivo will not take you directly into Puerto Morelos. Instead, the van will leave you along the main road, at the junction with the Puerto Morelos road, for about 20 pesos. Following your drop-off, you’ll be able to take a taxi into town.
