Praslin Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Praslin Transportation

Praslin is the second largest island of the Seychelles, and it is home to beautiful beaches, tropical forests and luxury resorts. If you are planning a trip to this area, take a few moments to learn about the different transportation options in the area.

Buses

Praslin only has three bus lines, but each line covers nearly all of the sites you’ll want to see on your visit. Purchase your tickets from the bus driver, but be aware that the fare will be the same no matter how far you will be traveling. The standard buses do not have air conditioning, but you can pay extra to travel by air conditioned bus for added comfort. These buses are technically tour buses, so they are also ideal for doing some sightseeing even if you don’t have a destination in mind.

Ferries

Ferries travel between Praslin and some of the other Seychelles islands several times each day. Tickets can be purchased online or in person, and the trips can be as short as 15 minutes, depending on which island you will be traveling to.

Air Travel

While you won’t be able to catch an international flight directly to or from Praslin, there is a small airport in the island. It has only one runway, and the facility can only handle small aircraft. You can catch a direct flight from here Mahe, or you can charter a flight to one of the other nearby islands. Visitors find the airport to be clean and modern. Air Seychelles flies out of this airport, but be advised that the flight schedule can be unpredictable, which makes connecting to flights in other cities more difficult.
