Ponta Delgada Nightlife
The nightlife in Ponta Delgada is widely known throughout Portugal and beyond. There are a number of tips to follow to know where to go and what to drink while there.
Laid Back Bars
Various laid back bars are found throughout Ponta Delgada. Many of these are found around the rotunda of Santa Clara, by the sea. The entrances are nothing fancy and therefore you simply have to look for the sign and go in.
The Galeria Arco 8 is comfortable and cheap. Music is played and movies are shown on a large screen. There is no special dress and the drinks are affordable.
Doris Bar is another laid back bar and also has a café for being able to enjoy food. There’s free Wi-Fi and you get a great view of the harbor at the same time.
Vibrant Night Clubs
The Portas do Mar is the cruise ship terminal and that’s where the majority of night clubs are found. There is typically live music on the evenings. There’s a lot of space and it’s not uncommon for a lot of the outdoor space to be used to host concerts and festivals.
Throughout Angels Bay, there will be nightclubs, though old ones close and new ones open all the time.
What to Order
A pina colada is one of the most popular alcoholic beverages to drink while in Portugal, and this includes Ponta Delgada. Many of the bars and clubs will have drink specials posted. If you’re concerned with someone putting something into the drink, ask for a bottle of beer where you can watch the cap being opened and then brought directly to you.
