Where to Shop in Padova
Padova is a wonderfully picturesque town with many things to see and admire. When shopping, it is fun to enjoy special experiences while finding interesting merchandise.
Outdoor Markets in Padova
When buying fresh fruit, vegetables or flowers in Padova, there’s no place better than the outdoor markets. In the outdoor setting, there is not only wonderfully fresh produce, but it’s nice just to soak up the atmosphere. Piazza delle Erbe is one of the favorite markets, because of all the vibrant colors. The stand owners take great pride in selling directly to their loyal customers. The market is filled with visitors of all ages, from the young to the old. Everyone loves being in the fresh air among such beautiful produce.
Palazzo delle Ragione
The Palazzo delle Ragione is beautiful, with amazing arcades and open passages. There are small wooden shops and stalls all along with lots of activity going on. The entire area is full of bright and varied colors. There is a great aroma from all the exotic flowers for sale, as well as the fruit and vegetables. Many of the stalls are selling local Italian products. A few of the vendors add to the magical atmosphere by wearing traditional Italian costumes.
Finding Hard-to-Get Items in Padova
Ai Due Catini D’Oro is a very old store that sells products visitors might be looking for. While the items are not Italian, the shop is frequented by local residents. It’s a good place to buy items such as syrup, vanilla, international salts and molasses. The feel of the place is like stepping back in time. Rather than buying prepackaged goods, the products are sold according to weight. The experience alone is worth a trip to the store.
Specialty Coffee Shops
Some visitors to Padova love Italian espresso, but it’s not for everyone. There is a shop on Sacro Cuore that sells coffee beans from around the world. Customers can choose their beans, their blend and the grind they want. The counter is covered with antique grinders, coffee pots and accessories for roasting beans. The shop was opened about 50 years ago by a woman named Ida, who still sits in the front of the store next to the door. She greets customers as they enter the shop and helps with the business.
