You’ll be spending a lot of time outside, and even the summer nights can get chilly in the wee hours of the night. If you’re planning to camp on any of the nights, you’ll definitely need warm outdoor gear during the winter months. Rain and snow are not unusual, so you’ll need to plan ahead with warm socks, snug boots, and thermal underwear for when you’re out on the trails or in your cabin. Bring a good water bottle or a hydration pack, and some gum as the change in pressure can hurt people’s ears. Take snacks with you for more energy while you hike, and test out your equipment before you go so you know everything is comfortable for even the longer treks.

If you’re going during summer, take mosquito repellant and sun tan lotion. Towels can help tremendously during hikes to dry off sweat or potentially water from the falls and streams here. Always have a map with you in case you get lost on the trails (or on the roads.) Also be sure to take binoculars and a camera so you don’t miss out on anything. There’s a lot to see up here, so you’ll need to be ready at pretty much all times.
