Sanibel Island was recommended after a very crowded and regimented cruise with our then 18 month old baby girl. It is the shell capital of the world and great for kids and grownups, a great family spot.

We passed the Darling Natural Wildlife Refuge preserves and the everglades from Miami in a very easy drive up the western coast of Florida. This Island had beautiful scenery and peace and afforded us to be one with nature. We had a kitchen to cook for ourselves and a fussy baby and our own little house/cottage that we just happened to get without reservations in a place that usually needs a year in advance for reservations in this very popular vacation spot.

We went in late August and the weather was great and it was not too crowded. This location was baby, toddler, kid and teenager friendly affording great fun and memories.

Attraction Info: J.N.Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge was great! We bought educational books, great for kids. Saw narrated tours of wild life in their natural environment. Not too expensive either, no lines, no crowds.
