Ocho Rio means "eight rivers," and it's a very popular tourist destination on the northern part of Jamaica. Traveling to and from the city is painless, thanks to the many transportation services Ocho Rios offers.

If you arrive into Montego Bay by plane, you will most likely go to Ocho Rios via a prearranged transfer in a air conditioned minibus or van. However, there are other airport transportation options available, such as taxis and private tours. When traveling by taxi, be sure the taxi cab you ride in has a red license plate. Only the ones with Red Plates are authorized to take passengers; the others could be scammers, or worse. Something else to keep in mind about Ocho Rios taxi drivers is that they tend to drive erratically, so you should expect a bumpy ride. The prices may seem steep in comparison to everything else in town, but don't be afraid to haggle for a better deal.

If you are visiting by cruise ship, you can opt for a ship tour, go shopping in Ocho Rios or use a private guide to take you around to see the sights.
