As reported in [% 1601574 | | this blog entry %], representatives of Northwest and its flight attendants union met late last week for the first time since July, under the watchful eye of the National Mediation Board (NMB).
According to coverage by the Associated Press, the meetings left the parties no closer to resolving their differences.
The Association of Flight Attendants’ website described the current state of affairs thusly: “We have wrapped up for the week and all are now en route home. We met briefly with NWA again, with NMB Mediator Denise Hedges and NMB Director of Mediation Larry Gibbons. There were no new developments. No proposals have changed hands.
“The mediators have determined that additional mediation is appropriate. They have asked some tough questions of both sides and we responded very forcefully in defense of our position. They are planning to reconvene mediated sessions the week of October 9th.”
