I was back in Oslo (my previous hometown) and had one Friday night to (re)discover the city's bustling nightlife. From experience I know having one night out in Oslo means you head east to the "Grünerløkka" neighborhood. The following is a "Friday night in Oslo". Warning! You need a bit of stamina to complete this route!
- "Südøst" - for an early dinner. Very hip Mediterranean style restaurant at the corner of "Trondheimsveien" and "Thorvald Meyers" street. - "Glød" - cozy bar at the bottom of the "Thorvald Meyers" street. Low volume on the stereo and a fireplace set the mood. - "Bar Boca" at the other end of the same street, my favorite bar for years, chill 50s jazz on the stereo, 50s style interior design and absolutely excellent drinks! - "Nighthawk Diner" for a late night burger. Amazing authentic looking American diner with ecological burgers (tasty) and lots of classic American diner food. - "Blå" - the coolest club in the city with a booking policy that includes anything from avantgarde jazz to house evenings. Located by the "Akerselva" river. - "The Villa" seriously fun club. Leaving "Grünerløkka" for the city center (east). At "Møllergata 23".
Good luck and enjoy!
