What to Do in Myrtle Beach This Summer

There’s always something going on in Myrtle Beach, especially in the summer. You can pretty much find free live music every weekend, plus free outdoor movies, steep discounts on lodging, and a bunch of just-for-summer extras—if you know where to look.

Free Summer Concerts

Kick off your weekends with the free Sounds of Summer Concert Series at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. On the third Friday of every month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., you can check out a new live band. Just bring along your lawn chair, picnic, and family or friends.

Meanwhile, on downtown’s Boardwalk, Sunday Celebrations bring live music every Sunday from June 26 through July 31. And Concerts on the Green at the Market Common will host two live shows on the third Thursday in June and July, in addition to Movies Under the Stars every Friday night starting at dusk. Get complimentary carriage rides on Tuesdays evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Stay Longer, Pay Less

Several Myrtle Beach area resorts are making it easy to enjoy a vacation by giving you more time to actually unwind. Beach Cove Resort is giving guests a third night free. Sea Watch Resort is also offering href=”http://search.iqrez.com/reservations/SeaWatchResort/search/6601/?cmpid=mbcsmr16&NCK=8553962660″ target=”_blank”>three nights for the price of two. Both resorts feature outdoor pools and lazy rivers.

For more built-in extras, Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort is enticing guests with its Splash Package that includes unlimited access for four each day to the Family Kingdom Water Park, four passes to the Family Kingdom Amusement Park, four rounds of mini golf at Jungle Lagoon, two adult and two children tickets to Ripley’s Aquarium, one lunch for four, and daily breakfast.

A Night Out for the Family

Alabama Theatre is home to the family-friendly ONE The Show. The visually striking costumes and scenery provide the backdrop for musical genres ranging from country and Broadway to pop and rock, plus a healthy dose of comedy. But the best part about the variety show is that two kids are free with the purchase of one adult ticket through Labor Day.

End Summer with a BBQ & Beer

When everyone else is getting ready for fall, Myrtle Beach is still in full summer swing come Labor Day weekend. The Beach Boogie & BBQ Festival has free live entertainment all weekend, though we recommend the $10 unlimited sampling from teams competing for best BBQ (kids under eight sample free). The festival also has a beer and wine garden, arts exhibitors, and kids’ games.

Also on Labor Day weekend is the Coastal Uncorked Food, Wine, and Sprits Festival. But don’t be fooled by the name, there’s also beer, live bands, and food from local vendors.
