My stay in Prague

Author: Pavol
Date of Trip: June 2007

I was always a big fan of traveling. Loving to go everywhere across the world. Once I visited the US and South Korea I decided to pick a destination which is close to my home. First of all, I had to pick a country. It might sound crazy but I literally closed my eyes and, blindly, put the finger on the map of Europe. It read – Prague, Czech Republic. Well, once I knew where I want to go it was much easier. I needed a hotel. Found a great site on the Internet (www.aaaahotels.com) and started arranging all needed.

When I got to Prague I was amazed. Even though I’m from an historical town of Poitiers, the beauty of Prague touched my heart very deeply. A lot of architectonic styles in one place. It was breath taking. It was love in a first sight.

First of all, I visited Astrological clock which is so famous you can’t miss their presence. Every hour there is an exhibition. Wooden apostles are passing while the skull man is ringing the bell. Shivering and beautiful in the same time. Secondly, I visited an old Jewish Ghetto. Synagogues, cemetery and the museum are all parts of the Jewish museum. I believe you can’t see an exhibition like this anywhere in the world beside Prague. You’ll spend there about 4-5 hours. I was so touched by the history of this place.

Other thing, I would highly recommend is a visit of Prague Castle. You can feel the atmosphere of old time. There’re guards by the gates (like those in Buckingham palace in London). The Golden Lane, with the small houses and the house n22 where Franz Kafka used to live is amazing. I couldn’t believe people could possibly live there. However, you can also “breathe” history by walking through the Charles Bridge. There is a statue (I can’t remember the name of it) which when you touch, you’ll come back to Prague soon. Guess what I did? 😉 Yeah, I touched it like million times.

Beside the history, Prague is a city which offers you lot of food. Check Czech dumplings with sauerkraut and pork. It’s delicious. Maybe not very good for your figure but excellent for your stomach. While visiting, I met a lot of interesting people which didn’t hesitate to guide me around. God knows I’m thankful that he guide my finger to that place on the map. And God knows when I’ll come back to the city of Prague.
