Muscat Nightlife
  • Muscat Nightlife

  • The very fact that there is an active nightlife in Muscat's surprises many tourists. Discover a few of the best places to spend your evenings in the city.

  • Nargileh Cafes

  • Many tourists in Muscat like to visit nargileh cafes (or hookah lounges) where they can smoke shisha with the locals. The CCC mall has a number of good nargileh, but since cafes open and close frequently, locals are the best source to find the most popular places to visit.

  • Trader Vic's

  • Located within the InterContinental Hotel, Trader Vic's is a one of the most popular bars in Muscat. Tourists flock to Trader Vic's to order its famous cocktails which are served with one-of-a-kind souvenir plastic figures. The bar offers live music, dancing and an extensive variety of dishes to satisfy late night food cravings.

Trader Vic's is located at Al Kharjiya Street, Al Shati Area, Muscat 114. No shorts are allowed.

  • John Barry Bar

  • John Barry Bar offers travelers a variety of excellent Italian food and good drinks at the Muscat Grand Hyatt. Customers at John Barry Bar appreciate the old-world charm and the romantic atmosphere which is created by the live music and dim lighting. The "Branzino" Sea Bass comes highly recommended, but the smell of cigar smoke may disturb some diners.

John Barry Bar is located at Grand Hyatt, ShattiAlqurum. There is no dress code.

  • The Copacabana

  • Many tourists and expats in Muscat consider The Copacabana nightclub at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in the Shatti Al Qurum area, the best place for dancing to the latest hip-hop Rhythm and Blues, Dance, Soul, African, and Arabic hits. Thursday nights are the busiest, and customers can wait a long time to be admitted into the club. This is a couples-only club which means no singles are officially admitted, but the rule is often relaxed late at night. The prices are quite reasonable compared to other clubs in the city.

The Copacabana is located at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Shatti Al Qurum area. No sandals, nor shorts are allowed.

  • The Al Ghazal Pub

  • British expats who are a bit homesick can visit the Al Ghazal Pub at the InterContinental Hotel. This relaxed and friendly English-inspired pub offers a decent selection of beer and good, yet expensive food. There are usually replays of British sports on the televisions, and crowd is a mix of Omani men and expats.

The Al Ghazal Pub is located at the Muscat InterContinental Hotel. The dress code is relaxed, but tidy.

  • The Beach

  • Visitors who would rather not spend their evenings drinking in a bar or dancing the night away can watch the amazing sunsets at the beach in the Shatti al Qurm area. While there is no specific dress code, it may be a good idea to dress modestly.
