Munich

Author: Dean Jones
Date of Trip: April 2016

I attended the Bauma expo in Munich travelling from Perth Australia via Sydney.

Total flying time aprox 28 hours.

I research travel tips and advice extensively prior to travelling. The best tip was to travel with carry on only. This was the most liberating thing I have ever done when traveling thank you.

Two customers lost their checked luggage and we were held up waiting for the others in our group at baggage carousels. I breezed on and off the plane bag in hand.

We got a shock arriving into Munich airport to discover no e passport facilities I estimate it took 30-40 minutes to get our passports stamped at passport control.

Another shock was the taxi rides to the city which sat on between 190-220kmh we took photos of the speedo.
When we arrived at the city the taxi engine automatically cuts out to save fuel go figure that out.

Another trap is many taxis as we used heaps of them refused to take credit cards. Many Cafes wanted cash and
one iconic cafe wanted only German credit cards. Luckily we took enough cash this would be advice I would suggest sharing.

A real highlight was a private last minute tour organised by Mikes Bikes Tours of the fairytale castle (I can’t spell the name).

Munich was great and felt safe the people spoke English willingly . The food was outstanding but the worse coffee I have had like dish water.
