Mooloolaba Things to Do – Attractions & Must See

Mooloolaba Things to Do

Mooloolaba is an exciting resort town on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The weather is beautiful year round, making this area one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations.

Visit The Spit

The Spit is the portion of land in Mooloolaba that juts out into the ocean. It is about a kilometer long, so you can choose to either walk or drive along it, although parking is scarce in the area. You’ll find a number of shops, restaurants and bars on The Spit, making it a great place to hang out and meet new people, both day and night. There are many fishing boats and private yachts along The Spit, as well as a large park for children to play in.

Tour the Underwater World Sea Life Aquarium

If you have little ones along with you or are just a kid at heart, you’ll love Underwater World. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to touch and feed some of the sea creatures housed at this aquarium and can even go on a shark dive to swim with some of the ocean’s scariest inhabitants. An underwater tunnel lets you feel like you are actually at the bottom of the sea while surrounded by all the fish. Admission includes free re-entry, so you can come and go throughout the day as you please.

Go on a Canal Cruise

Mooloolaba is filled with little canals that cut into the coastline from the harbor area. A canal cruise offers a unique view of some local multi-million dollar mansions, with expert commentary from a local guide. You have the option of taking the one-hour cruise with or without lunch at a local tavern. Cruises typically depart several times throughout the day, more frequently on weekends and holidays.

Watch the Sunrise over the Ocean

Queensland faces to the east, so be sure to get up early enough to watch the sunrise from the beach at least once during your visit. Once you are there, you’ll be just in time to snag a spot for your towel on the sand before the masses descend on the beach later in the morning to soak up some sun and enjoy swimming in the warm water. Be sure to apply and reapply sunscreen throughout the day, as there is a hole in the ozone layer over Australia, so the sun is incredibly strong.

Shop at the Eumundi Markets

Every Wednesday and Saturday, you can visit the Eumundi Markets, an outdoor shopping experience unlike any other. There are over 250 stalls offering their wares, so this is the perfect chance for you to find some unique Australian gifts and souvenirs to bring back home with you. You’ll also enjoy live entertainment from local musicians and performers.
