Mijas Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Modern roads make Mijas an easy destination to reach either by car or public transportation. While in town, many visitor to Mijas also enjoy riding the Mijas Burro Taxi.

Bus

From Torremolinos, the 121 bus goes to Mijas via Benalmadena. Depending on traffic, the trip takes about an hour going and 40 minutes coming back. You can buy your ticket from the driver. It’s a scenic ride that begins along the coastline and then winds its way up the mountain and back down towards the end.

The bus goes through an interesting town called Benalmadena with some attractive side streets and a large bull-ring. After that, a large Buddhist stupa on a ridge overlooking the coast dominates the skyline on the left. It’s well worth hopping off the bus for a while to view it up close and then hopping onto the next bus to finish you trip. Buses run every half hour or so.

Mijas Burro Taxi

The Mijas Burro Taxi takes you around the square and down Ave de Mejico. You can ride in a trap pulled by the burro, or ride on the burro. There is also a horse and coach ride. Rides are a bit on the pricey side, however. They operate from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in summer, and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in winter.
