Midwest tops Zagat’s airline survey

Zagat Survey has just announced the results of the 2007 Zagat /”Today” show Global Airlines Survey, and Midwest topped the list for overall quality in economy class among U.S. airlines. Following Midwest were Virgin America, JetBlue, Frontier, and Hawaiian.

Nearly 7,500 frequent flyers were surveyed, and not surprisingly, ratings for U.S. airlines have dropped by five to nine points on a 30-point scale since Zagat’s first airline survey in 1990.

U.S. airlines didn’t make the top five for international economy. Singapore Airlines was named first, followed by Emirates, Thai Airways, ANA, and Air New Zealand.

Southwest was named the best U.S.-based frequent flyer program, and Alaska, Continental, JetBlue, and AirTran rounded out that list.
