Midwest Offers Bonus for Winter Travel

If you’ve been reading my [% 2806239 | | recent blog posts %], you know I’ve been anticipating a flood of airline mileage promotions to stimulate travel during the first quarter of 2009.

For members of [[Midwest Airlines | Midwest Airline’s]] Midwest Miles program, the waiting is over.

Between January 1 and March 31, Midwest is offering up to 10,000 bonus miles for flights on Midwest and Midwest Connect—2,000 bonus miles for the first round-trip, 3,000 for the second, and 5,000 bonus miles for the third round-trip. Program members must register before flying to earn the bonuses.

This isn’t the most generous promotion, but it’s notable for its scope. In contrast to typical airline bonus offers, which tend to focus on specific routes in need of marketing support, the Midwest offer applies to any and every Midwest flight. And it’s in effect for a full three months. In short, this is exactly the type of offer I’ve been expecting from the airlines as a group.

While this is just a trickle, it is a sign that a veritable torrent of comparably wide-ranging offers from other airlines may be in the pipeline.
