Xochimilco

Float your cares away on the ancient canals at the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco. The waterways date from Aztec times when they used to feed traffic into Tenochtitlan, which is what ancient Mexico City was called.

Museo de Antropologia

When you want a good overview of Mexico’s many ancient cultures, come to the Museum of Anthropology. You’ll spend hours enjoying artifacts from historic civilizations to modern indigenous groups. If you don’t have much time, your priorities should be the Aztec, Maya, and Oaxaca exhibits. These collections give context to many of the sites you’ll see in the city and throughout the country.

Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan was already a ruined city by the time the Aztecs stumbled onto it, lying about 46km northeast of the capital. Bosque de Chapultepec

Take a break from the urban bustle by heading to the most extensive park in the city. Although there is a zoo, a botanical garden, monuments, and Chapultapec Castle, the main draw here are the plants, trees, lakes, and fountains.
