Mestre Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Mestre Transportation

When visiting Mestra, Austria there are plenty of transportation options available. Here are some of the best suggestions and tips regarding transportation to, from, and inside the city.

Bus Services

Traveling to and from Mestre via bus is easy and less expensive than by train. The Number Two bus line can take you to and from Venice. Attendants within the bus terminal are helpful, so if you have questions about a possible destination, feel free to ask, but try to arrive early. Immediately prior to boarding the bus, the staff is busy with other tasks.

Train Services

The Mestre train station is easy to access and provides faster transportation options to Venice and further out than by bus. You will pay more for a bus but you’ll arrive sooner and have more room to move about the train once it leaves the station. If you have children, the train may be the better option as it is easier to use the bathroom.

Airport to Mestre

When arriving in the Mestre, Austria airport, you have three basic options. You can rent a car, take a taxi, or take the Number 15 bus. This bus picks passengers up from the Marco Polo Airport and takes them to the city center. It might take longer, but it is far cheaper to take the bus into the city and then hail a cab to your accommodations from there.

Grab Food Before the Train Station

The train station is busy for its size. It sees over 500 trains and 85,000 passengers every day. Despite the large number of passengers, there are only a few small chain restaurants. Outside of McDonald’s, your best bet is to pick up food before you go. Having a snack and beverage with you will save money and you can eat on the train. The train also likely has a food car as well, although on shorter rides you may not have the time to pick something up inside the train as there might be long lines
