Manila Travel Guide and Tips
There is a reason why Manila has become a place where people are often talking about why you haven’t lived until you’ve seen this part of the world. Because there are plenty of people who haven’t seen it, it might be hard to figure out what to see and do once you get there.
Rizal Park
Rizal Park is one of those places you must absolutely take in when you go and visit Manila. This is the region’s answer for New York’s Central Park. True to form the scenery is plenty beautiful and there is enough to see that you can spend several hours there. The crowning jewel of the park is the Monument of Doctor Jose Rizal which stands near the center of the park. The statue is harldy the only thing worth seeing in the park, there is also a huge man made lake at the center of the park as well as an arboretum and other wonderful statues that make the scenery in Manila a real sight to see.
Fort Santiago
While Manila has plenty of stores and shops and hotels that are pleasing to the eye and can help you blow an afternoon, if you are going to visit the area then you should make sure to see things you can’t see anywhere else. Fort Santiago is the oldest Spanish Military Fort that has been built in Asia. It was constructed by conquistadors and still stands today, though obviously these days it’s more of a museum than a place anyone is going to go in order to garrison for armed conflict. These days you can take a walk through history and see what these forts used to look like.
