Manhattan Beach Things to Do
Manhattan Beach is a laid back area of Los Angeles. There’s the strand, the beach, the pier, lots of surfers and beach people, numerous bars and restaurants, along with many other things to do.
The Strand, technically a street, is a scenic path that goes right along the beach through town. Locals and visitors alike enjoy spending time on the strand walking, biking and rollerblading. The upper part is for pedestrians and the lower is for cyclists. Excellent people watching here too – you can see the beachgoers playing volleyball or surfing.
As one of the most beautiful beaches in southern California, at Manhattan Beach you’ll hear the sound of big waves, see lots of surfers, Baywatch-style lifeguards and people just enjoying the sunshine. You can do everything from laying out in the warm sun to playing volleyball on the soft sand.
Manhattan Beach Pier
Built around 1920, the Pier is a famous landmark. The structure itself is attractive and interesting, and there are nice views of town, the beach, and the sunset. There is a little cafe at the end and a nice little aquarium too.
Manhattan Beach Boulevard
If you need a break from the beach, take a walk on Manhattan Beach Blvd., one of the main drags in town. Check out the shops, restaurants, and become a part of Manhattan Beach. The closest establishments to the beach are the bars. Even in the afternoon, they are often hopping!
Before you leave town, be sure to take a stroll along Manhattan Avenue and look at the fantastic array of architecture, both new and old. Manhattan has an eclectic variety of homes and absolutely stunning landscape architecture.
