Majorca Island Travel Guide
Majorca is one of the most favored islands in the Mediterranean. Follow this Majorca Island travel guide for tips on where to stay and what to do.
Hotels
If you’re going to stay on Majorca Island, consider one of the top hotels. The following hotels are highly rated and considered a great deal: Santa Lucia Hotel, Gran Sol Hotel, Inturotel Esmeralda Garden, Hotel Atolon, Hotasa Hotel Samoa, and Protur Bonamar. Most of the hotels feature spectacular views of the water and pools where you can soak up the sun.
The West Coast
There is a lot to do on Majorca’s West Coast. If you like challenging, yet scenic drives, consider driving down to Calobra through steep hills, or you can travel with a tour coach or even ride a bike. Visit La Granja, a historical mansion with a beautiful garden, wild animals, a restaurant and a souvenir shop. Of course the beaches are a popular destination, as well, like Can Pastilla Beach. You can spend the day walking around the Port d’Antratx and look at the yachts and the beautiful houses of the famous people who have homes in the area.
Cap de Formentor
Cap de Formentor is at the northern tip of Majorca. There is natural beauty to be seen in this area – rugged mountain landscapes, rock formations, trees seemingly growing out of rock, and the water. The drive to get to Cap de Formentor is a little challenging, so you may want to consider going with a tour group. If you go it alone, you may want to go early in the day to avoid the tour groups, as this is a very popular destination. Many travelers comment that Cap de Formentor was the highlight of their trip.
Caves
The Cuevas del Drach are caves with stalactites, stalagmites, and pools of water. What sets these caves apart is the acoustics, which are enhanced by musicians playing soft music. The caves are easily reachable by bus or boat, and excursions to the cave are very family friendly – you don’t need spelunking experience to explore the caves.
