Makinac Island is a Michigan island that sits in Lake Huron. It is a well-known resort area, and you’ll want to know what to pack when visiting.

When thinking about what clothes to take, bring comfortable clothes, but be prepared for all kinds of weather. One thing to keep in mind though is the cool weather that can strike even during the middle of summer. You’ll want to at least bring a jacket or sweater with you when you visit. You can generally stay warm while moving around, but it’s easy to feel the chill air the moment you sit down. Bringing clothing that you can layer isn't a bad idea, particularly in the summer, since the temperatures can shift quickly.

If you’re worried about medical circumstances, then just know there is a small hospital on the island. While you should remember to bring any medical items you need, there are also plenty of stores in the area that can typically get you just about any medication you need.

You won’t need to worry much about toiletries, since the island has plenty of places where you can pick up minor items. If you plan to take photos though, you don’t want to have to buy a brand-new camera when you arrive. Make sure to bring your camera as well as batteries and any power chargers.
