Lubbock is a college town in West Texas that offers unique things to do for travelers. The main attraction is Texas Tech University, but there are other special places to visit.
Texas Tech – The Central Location in Lubbock
When visiting Lubbock, you will want to start with Texas Tech, home of the Red Raiders college athletics teams. If you are in town during football, basketball, or baseball season, you can watch the Red Raiders play competitive sports in the Big 12 conference.
You can also tour the Texas Tech campus to discover unique features and hear from current college students. Daily Tours are offered Monday through Friday and some Saturdays.
Buddy Holly Center
One of the most famous residents of Lubbock is singer Buddy Holly. Holly was killed in a plane crash in 1959, but he is still remembered through the Buddy Holly Center. If you are a music fan, the Buddy Holly Center is a must-see.
The museum preserves the music of Lubbock, West Texas, and Buddy Holly. There are three galleries, a nice courtyard, and a gift shop. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, but closed on Monday. Ticket prices are very reasonable, starting at $2.

Texas Tech and the Buddy Holly Center are the two main attractions in Lubbock. But, you can also catch the Balloon Fest, visit the Cactus Alley Courtyard, and sample drinks at the Pheasant Ridge Winery.
