London

Author: Marcia L Hill
Date of Trip: November 2011

I visited London during the American Thanksgiving holiday last year. It was a wonderful trip with my boyfriend. Having lived in London, I was eager to return with him nearly 10 years later to see what had become of this wonderful city.

We walked the city streets, never taking the Tube once. In doing so, we saw everything from the British Library, Rosetta Stone to Hyde Park and the London Eye. We left nothing untouched including catching a wonderful standby seat showing of Jerusalem with Mark Rylance.

The highlight of our trip was the last night at the hotel. We stayed at a lovely high end hotel chain. We sat outside with our drinks and took in the cool, but gentle fall air. As we sat there, looking back upon our previous six months, my boyfriend blurted out he loved me. It was the first time ever, following a very painful marriage that ended in divorce two years prior.

I will always remember London as the place I confirmed that the man I am going to marry, let go of his fear and walked into my heart. London will always be special to me.
