Ljubljana Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Insider Tips

Ljubljana Shopping

Vacationing in Ljubljana? You’ll find plenty of great shopping all over the city. The following are some not-to-be-missed shopping centers, markets and streets. Also covered are tips for getting the best deals.

Sunday Flea Market

The Sunday Flea Market is like heaven for bargain shoppers who love antiques and collectibles. You’ll even find coins, paper currency, and other memorabilia from the former Yugoslav Republic. The market is located along the river, between the Triple Bridge and the Cobbler Bridge.

Central Market

This is another can’t-miss market but with a completely different feel. The Central Market boasts wide aisles and a lovely atmosphere. It is situation between the Butcher Bridge and the Dragon Bridge. It’s open every day but Sunday and offers fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and cheeses, dried goods, spices, souvenirs, handicrafts and restaurants. It’s great for people watching, strolling and photography. You’ll find that you can haggle when it comes to fruits and vegetables but not for meats, cheeses and prepared foods. You can also haggle for souvenirs.

BTC

If you are in the mood for a mall, this is where you’ll want to be. The mall is the largest in Slovenia, with a vast array of shops that sell just about anything you can think of. It’s a bit intimidating, and unless you are the type who enjoys huge shopping centers, you might want to skip it. This is not a quaint market, it’s a modern center.

Centromerkur

This is Slovenia’s oldest department store, but it’s more like a museum. Visitors may enjoy the style of the building and its historic appeal, but it’s not the best place for shopping.
