Lisboa Card

Lisbon is a very walkable city since the main attractions are within a fairly compact area. However, if you do want to make use of the city’s fabulous transportation network, then the cheapest option is to buy a travel pass. The tickets allow you to travel on buses, the metro, trams, and elevators. Using them is fairly simple. All you have to do is swipe them and you’ll be on your way.

The Lisboa Card is a tourist oriented card that allows free travel on the metro, buses, trams, elevators, and trains along the Cascais or Sintra lines. Visitors can buy it in three variations. The 24 hour pass costs 18.50 Euros, the 48 hour pass costs 31.50 Euros, and the 72 hours pass costs 39 Euros. These passes also allo for free entrance to some museums and discounts at some shops. The Lisboa Card can be purchased at the tourist office in Lisbon Praca de Commercial. Visitors will be happy to know that public transportation is very safe and convenient n the Lisbon area.

Via Viagem

Another travel route is the Via Viagem, but be aware that this travel card doesn’t cover the train lines. Each daily ticket costs six Euros for a 24-hour pass. ‘Zapping’ is another way of getting around the city. Zapping means putting money ahead of time on your travel car. Zapping can be used on the Transtejo and Soflusa boats as well. You must zap before as you board and when you get off. You cannot use cash if you’ve already used the zapping method to board.
