Lion World Tour (Kenya Safari)

Recently Lion World Tours based in Toronto advertised a 6 night Kenya on Sale Adventure for $2199 including airfare from Dulles. Having always wanted to go on safari we took the plunge, but not expecting too much for the budget price. Boy were we surprised! The entire trip was top notch.

We flew Ethiopia Airlines to Addis Ababa and then on to Nairobi. The planes were new and the food was not only good but abundant, seems they fed us every couple of hours.

Upon landing in Nairobi we were greeted by our local representatives from Liberty African Safaris. We were divided into 5 pop-up roof mini vans of 6 persons each. We were given a folder with our intinerary, a boxed picnic lunch and a safari hat before we began our road trip to our first lodging.

All of our lodgings were in unique settings and had a comfortable authenticity. Our meals were all served as buffets, and were appetizing and varied.

Our game drives proved to be far more than we could ever have hoped for. We saw the “big 5” several times over. Also viewing a pride of lions eating a cape buffalo that they had taken down hours before we arrived.

The following day we witnessed three cheetahs take chase in an attempt to bring down a topi. The topi was able to kick off the cheetahs and escaped being their dinner.

Since we were in Kenya shortly after birthing season, nursing babies were frequent.

For an added fee we chose to visit both a Samburu village and a Masai village.

The weather also cooperated with only about 10 minutes of rain during the week, good for the beginning of the “long rain” season.

Another memorable portion of the adventure is the “roads” or lack of there of…some of the areas we traveled over could certainly benefit from a road grater. They gave us a lot to tlak and laugh about.

Having traveled to over 40 different countries, this trip goes down as my #1 most memorable, surely never again possible to be repeated. With that said I have contacted Lion World Tours about another trip to……?????
