León Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

León Transportation

León has the coast, history and culture to draw people into Nicaragua in a way they never thought possible. If you’re looking for León transportation taxi and bus tips, keep these suggestions in mind from past travelers.

Buses to Get to León

You can find larger buses that are slower and cheaper or microbuses which are faster and more expensive at the major stations. If you’re coming from Granada and headed to Leon via Managua, it should be a simple enough journey for any traveler to take. You won’t find a direct bus line between the two, but it’s an extremely popular journey, so there are plenty of people who work at the station to help you find the right bus. You shouldn’t have to wait too long as there are regular buses that go from either destination to take you, but you may just want to ensure the driver knows where you’re planning to go. The buses are inexpensive, but they can get crowded. However, you shouldn’t need to travel for longer than a couple of hours, depending on where you’re coming from.

Buses, Taxis and Foot Traffic in León

Once you get into the city, there are local buses that run you to major destinations (e.g., beaches, cultural exhibits, etc.) Taxis are available too, and they’re highly encouraged over walking. Walking can be dangerous for tourists and locals alike. You can also take the pedi-cabs (tricycles) around the city. The people who run the cabs appreciate your business and are happy to go the extra mile for their guests. They can handle even the larger luggage on their carts.
