Latin America adventure trips that help save the Amazon

One of my very favorite adventure travel outfitters is a company called Intrepid Travel. For two years running, an Intrepid package has made my list of the 10 best bargains in adventure travel. This year I might just hand out a gold star for environmental merit as well.

Many companies offer early-booking discounts in an attempt to fill their tours. Intrepid is taking a different approach with its Latin America packages this year. Instead of offering a discount, it’s donating 10 percent of the costs of every trip booked in February and March to “directly support projects that are working towards a sustainable future for the Amazon Rainforest.”

That works out to between about $120 and $160 per booking for everything from an Inca Trail trek to snorkeling in Belize.

More specifics of the program are available at Intrepid’s website.

We hand-pick everything we recommend and select items through testing and reviews. Some products are sent to us free of charge with no incentive to offer a favorable review. We offer our unbiased opinions and do not accept compensation to review products. All items are in stock and prices are accurate at the time of publication.
