Langtang National Park is a national Park in Nepal and the first Himalayan national park. It’s a popular location that you can typically reach by bus or while hiking.

Hiking Distances from Dhunche

The hike to Langtang starts out with an unsteady hike that begins to steadily push uphill. Visitors should be wary of altitude sickness and prepare accordingly. The altitude gains occur rapidly and you need to make sure you don’t push yourself too hard.  The hike from Dhunche to Langtang Village will take you almost 17 hours of walking, but you’ll find many villages along the way at which you can stop, eat, and sleep. You can also hike to Gosainkund Lake, which requires about a nine-hour hike from Dhunche to the Gosainkund-Laurebina La Pass.

On The Road

There are three buses a day from Kathmandu to Dhunche, and two of these will carry you all the way to Syabrubensi via Thulo Bharkhu. The bus ride as far as Trisuli Bazar is a relatively smooth ride, though there are military and police checkpoints where your journey will slow. The majority of the Nepali people on board the bus have to get off and walk through, which adds at least a couple of hours onto the drive. The bus will stop at Dhunche first, which is convenient for hikers wanting to climb Singh Gomba. If you remain on the bus instead, it will eventually stop at Syabrubesi, which is the best place from which to proceed onto Langtang Valley.
