Lagos Nightlife

Situated along the coast of Nigeria is the city of Lagos. As one of the most heavily populated urban areas in the world, Lagos boasts a strong nightlife scene that includes bars and clubs.

Street Pubs and Bars

The streets of Lagos are full of pubs and dancing spots. These places stay open until the early morning, and include many English and Irish pubs, among other locations.

The Three Monkeys is a relaxed, occasionally loud, and always welcoming bar. It can draw a younger crowd, but the music is diverse and appeals to people of all backgrounds. Wolf’s Lair, which is just next to Bom Vivant on the main street, is another popular spot. It stays open until four in the morning, which makes for a night full of music and dancing. Finally, Bar Terapia and Bar Greenhouse are two laid back bars near the marina. Bar Terapia is a German bar, which is a rare sight in Lagos.

Around Town

The Algarve Beach Party takes place in Praia da Batata on the 10th of August. It’s very popular, and the earlier you buy your tickets, the better price you’ll get. It gets really crowded, but includes several outdoor stages for many types of music. Even during the rest of the year, you’ll find plenty of fun while walking around the streets of Lagos. Shops stay open late, and entertainers stay on the street to perform for the crowds.

Options

Options is a nightclub on Allen Avenue in Ikeja, Lagos. It is located in a complex separate from a flophouse/brothel-level hotel, but don’t be discouraged from venturing in. The DJ is incredible and the nightclub itself looks great. The men’s bathroom leaves much to be desired, but you don’t go to a club to hang out there.

Although it opens around 9 pm, things don’t get started until around midnight. The large dancefloor and music – American and Nigerian R&B and Hip-Hop – keep the crowd moving.

Club Do It All

Club Do It All is also on Allen Avenue in Ikeja, Lagos with hip-hop and R&B music. The club really starts hopping after 11 pm.

The place is filled with beautiful women that outnumber the men at least two to one. The crowd is a mix of locals and “foreign investor” types. So, those who might be afraid to venture out from the gated confines of the Sheraton, you might feel comfortable here.

There are three bars in the club – one in the pool room, one outside, and one inside near the dance floor – with reasonably priced beverages.

The place has a nice laid back atmosphere outside balanced by a throw-down party vibe inside. There’s something for almost everyone here.

Bacchus

This is a popular and fun place to hang, especially if you’re staying on Ikoyi Island. They have live and DJ music and a fun upstairs VIP area. There’s also an outdoor place with great music across the street.
