La Spezia Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

La Spezia Transportation

La Spezia is the capital city of the La Spezia province in northern Italy. It is best noted for its tall cliffs, beautiful beaches and interesting attractions. La Spezia is often a stopping point for many of the top resorts in Tuscany and Ligurua. The great thing about this city is there are several methods of arrival.

Traveling by Train

The train is a popular method of travel if you are sightseeing the many historical cities in the area. Located near the city center, the train runs back and forth from Rome, Florence and other parts of Italy. There is also a commuter line that moves between the five villages of Cinque Terre, which is often the best method of travel in the region. Once off the train, you can walk along the coast and appreciate the sandy beaches.

Scurry Away on the Water

La Spezia is home to a beautiful marina with boats coming in and out from Corsica and other areas. It’s a great way to view the city from a different vantage point. It also is ideal if you are arriving by your own personal watercraft or if you’ve rented a sailboat from one of the local marinas.

Opt for an Automobile

Automobile travel is still one of most common methods of getting around La Spezia. This is especially true if you are just stopping in the area for a quick day visit. The exits off the highway are well notated so there is little chance of getting lost. Also, keep in mind if you plan on parking in a public lot, you will encounter parking meters so be sure to bring plenty of change.
