  • Kuching Shopping

  • Kuching offers a wide selection of shops, markets and bazaars to choose from, and shoppers can find everything from local Malaysian delicacies to designer-look handbags. Before you head to Kuching, take some time to learn more about the different shopping areas to explore.

  • Waterfront Bazaar

  • The waterfront bazaar, formerly the Sarawak Steamship Company, offers a restaurant, souvenir stalls and a handicraft gallery. Vendors in the surrounding area sell antiques and cultural artifacts from the area, making this shopping area ideal for collectors. Bargaining is welcome, so consider negotiating the price on an item you wish to purchase. You can also take advantage of the outdoor restaurant seating to take a break from shopping and enjoy a tasty meal.

  • Sunday Markets

  • For more of the open-air market experience, head to the Kuching Sunday markets. The sales actually start on Saturday afternoons, as this gives vendors a chance to set up their stalls early while making a few extra sales. This market boasts a wide array of goods, from handbags and clothing to unusual fruits and vegetables. If you are an adventurous eater, you can sample some of the local delicacies at the market, such as snake meat. The prices at the Sunday markets are more than reasonable, in fact, you can find lots of great deals here.

  • Shopping Malls

  • If you prefer the more traditional shopping experience, head to one of Kuching's shopping malls. Spring Shopping Mall and Hills Shopping Center feature many different shops to choose from, and shoppers can find good deals on items such as handbags.
