For a Lively Night Out

Anna Conda is a popular pub and beer garden across from the theater on Parliament Street. Traditional Irish music begins around 9:30 p.m. on the weekend, and continues until late. It can get crowded, so come early if you want to get a seat for the show.

Matt the Miller, easily identified as the pink pub at the bridge, is a known for loud music, live bands and good bar food.

The Pumphouse on Parliament Street is a popular hangout for the younger punters. Live music and an active scene makes this pub a favorite.

At Coda, disco never died. This club plays the favorite music from the 70’s, in addition to the latest hip hop and house tracks. A cover charge gives you access to top DJs, expensive drinks, and live music, if you are lucky. One of the few places in town which requires patrons to dress to impress.

Club 51, a lounge with a club feel, is part of the “super pub” O’Faoilan on John Street. Don’t let the upscale decor fool you. Club 51 is known for a rough clientele. It may just be what some visitiors are looking for.

Biddy Earlys bills itself as Kilkenny’s most popular cocktail bar. The bar can sling a pretty good drink, and top DJs and special events keep the party going.

A More Laid Back Evening

The Marble City Bar is a traditional Irish pub High Street with an older clientele. The locals are friendly, and the atmosphere does liven up during the evening, but don’t expect anything too wild.

Manion’s Country Pub offers its guests lunch and early dinners, along with a fine selection of beers. There is a beer garden and occasional live music show.

Carrigan’s Bar is an establishment favored by locals. It is located on Rose Street, near Kilkenny Castle. It is a good place to stop by for a quick pint.

Henderson’s Harp Bar is close to Carrigan’s Bar, and is also more of a hangout for the residents of Kilkenny. It pours a good selection of beer.
