Kenya Airways Is Giving Away Free Safaris on a Stopover

We’ve all waited in a cramped airport for hours because of a lengthy layover. But what if you could ditch the busy terminal to stretch your legs on an African safari? Kenya Airways is making that fantasy a reality by offering passengers a free safari during stopovers in Nairobi.

Sound too good to be true? It’s not, because Kenya Airways covers your all expenses on this four-hour safari, which is also sponsored by the Kenya Tourism Board, Kenya Wildlife Services, and Kenya Immigration. An added perk of this safari is that you won’t have to worry about navigating through Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport or waiting in long immigration lines: Kenya Airways representatives will meet you outside your aircraft and fast-track you through immigration.

Once you’ve left the airport, airline representatives will drive you to Nairobi National Park, home to over 400 species such as giraffes, lions, cheetahs, rhinos, and diverse bird life. Before Kenya Airways drives you back to the airport, you’ll also enjoy a picnic at a beautiful vantage point. The animal encounters don’t end there, according to reviews of the experience:

You’ll qualify for this free experience if you’re flying Kenya Airways from London Heathrow Airport to Nairobi. You must be stopping in Nairobi on your way to one of these seven destinations: Kigali, Rwanda; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania; Entebbe, Uganda; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Bujumbura, Burundi; or Djibouti.

Stopover travelers aren’t guaranteed a spot on a safari unless you sign up in advance of your flight. Don’t forget to apply for a visa before arriving in Kenya, and Kenya Airways will reimburse the $21 cost.

This visit to Nairobi National Park is all-inclusive and just 10 minutes away from the city. If you have four hours to spare, this safari is a great opportunity to see Kenya’s diverse wildlife.
