Kelowna Things to Do
Kelowna, British Columbia, overflows with wineries, orchards, farms, and gardens worth visiting. Plenty of activities are available to suit everyone’s interest whether it’s sports, relaxing, or fine wines.
Fine Wines and Manicured Gardens
There are dozens of wineries in and around Kelowna ranging in size from small, family-run businesses to large, corporate enterprises. Each has their own charm and flavor. One of the largest and best-known wineries is the Mission Hill Winery. You can take a tour and view its unique architecture and landscape, as well as taste several wines in their large tasting room. Once you’re done touring the wineries, check out some of the gardens including the elegant Elysium Garden, Summerland Ornamental Garden, and the Kasugai Japanese Garden. The best time to visit these gardens is when the flowers, bushes, and trees are blooming.
Plenty of Outdoor Opportunities
Kelowna is a great place to do anything outdoors all year-round. You can ski at the Big White in the winter, stroll along the lakeside on a well-maintained walkway with great views in the spring, or ride a hot air balloon in the summer. Spend a day on Lake Okanagan by renting a boat, jet ski, or paddle board. For something entirely different, hang out and take a ride on the Oyama Zipline and get an unusual look at the lake. There’s several regional parks around Kelowna, including Antlers Beach Regional Park with its unusual waterfalls and large beach. For fun with the family, the Mariner’s Reef Waterslide has a pool, hot tub, and slide for all ages, as well as a picnic area and concession stand to keep everyone fed.
