Kazbegi Things To Do
There may be more things in Kazbegi than you have time for, so we’re here to suggest the must-do activities.
Holy Trinity Church
You can’t go to Kazbegi without visiting the Trinity Church. You may want to consider getting in shape before your visit since the 1.5 hour hike is no cake walk but once at the top you’ll forget you broke a sweat. Make sure you pack good quality hiking shoes so the rest of your trip isn’t ruined by blisters. The church is very impressive but the real draw is the landscape surrounding it. Carve out some time to take in the panoramic views of the towns Kazbegi, Gergeti as well as Mount Kazbeg. If you have the energy to keep going, head up to the glaciers after you’ve gotten the proper attire from the outdoor equipment shop in town.
Town of Kazbegi
Historical attractions can be found right in the center of Kazbegi. The Alexander Kazbegi Statue can be found on Kazbegi’s main square, right in the heart of the town. Approximately 300 meters north of the main square you’ll find the Archangel Gabriel Church. Adjacent to the church you’ll find the Kazbegi Museum. You can easily spend an entire day right in Kazbegi’s main square.
If you’re up for an easy 2 km trail, the trip to Gveteli Waterfall is well worth the hike. The Arsha waterfall is also recommended when you’re staying in Kazbegi. Allow yourself about 90 minutes plus a little extra time for snapping photos. Don’t be surprised if you run into a cow or pig along your hikes!
There’s no shortage of things to do in Kazbegi. After a full day of hiking and touring churches you’ll be ready to sit back and take in the beautiful views from your room.
