JetBlue Will Shift Some Flights to Washington, D.C.

Beginning on June 16, JetBlue’s route map and flight schedule will undergo significant modifications, including cessation of flights on several current routes.

Flights between the following cities will be discontinued:

  • San Francisco and Austin
  • Oakland and Washington Dulles
  • Long Beach and Washington Dulles
  • Buffalo and Fort Meyers, Florida
  • West Palm Beach and San Juan

The cuts will free up aircraft to be deployed on new and expanded service from Washington’s Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA).

JetBlue received approval to operate up to 30 daily non-stop flights from DCA earlier this year, as part of the settlement allowing the American-US Airways merger to proceed.

JetBlue already operates 18 daily flights from DCA, to Boston, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Orlando, Tampa, and San Juan. So far, JetBlue hasn’t disclosed details of the 12 additional flights launching this summer, saying only that they will be a combination of altogether new routes and more frequencies on current routes.
