Guimaras Island Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Guimaras Island Transportation

Guimaras Island is a small group of islands in the Philippines that make up their own province. The main source of income on the island is from agriculture from things like mangoes and coconuts. There are multiple festivals throughout the year to attract visitors to the islands. If you are interested in taking a trip to Guimaras Island, you should heed these transportation tips to help you get around.

Tricycles

One of the most popular ways to get around on the island is by tricycle. This method of transportation is available to groups of five or fewer. They are small three-wheeled cabs. The trip is cheaper than some other methods of getting around. It is pleasant because the island has smooth roads for a safe ride. The drivers of these tricycles are also more flexible than other transportation providers, meaning they might let you take a couple side trips on the way to your destination.

No Airport

There is no airport on this island. This means that, once you land in Manilla, you need to fly into Iloilo City before crossing via ferry to Guimaras Island. There are two flights to the city each day and it is recommended that you take the earlier one so you have more time to spend on the island once you get there.

Ferry

The ferry trip from Iloilo City to the Island takes about 15 minutes. When you get to the wharf, you will be solicited for boat tickets by many peddlers. Ignore them and buy from the official ticket office. The trip isn’t very expensive and takes just about 15 minutes to get across the water to your destination.
