Isla de Fuerteventura Shopping
Shopping in the Isla de Fuerteventura of the Canary Islands is fun and luxurious. It’s important to know of the best shops and stores and how to get the best buys with insider tips.
What You Will Find
The majority of what’s on the island is touristy. There is African art, sombreros, hair braiding, and a lot of what’s found on many of the other islands within the area. Surf boards, however, are relatively affordable and therefore it’s a great place to pick up a board. The alcohol is also reasonably priced so you can stock up to drink in the room. Just remember the import restrictions for where you are traveling back to.
The Local Markets
The different local markets all have days in which they operate. The Jandia Market is open on Thursdays, while Corralego is open on Mondays and Fridays. Some of the markets will put on shows and also offer jewelry and a wide selection of souvenirs. If you’re not sure where to go, check with the hotel concierge and let them guide you toward the right market based upon the day of the week and what it is that you’re looking to buy.
Insider Shopping Tips
Haggling is expected throughout many of the shops and markets. Leather prices are good, though the electronic shops found everywhere are no better priced than what’s available online. It’s expensive to travel to some of the bigger shopping areas, so consider this when searching for deals. Have cash in hand because some of the artisans don’t have credit card machines and you don’t want to miss out on buying what you want.
