Ireland What to Pack
Pay close attention to the rainy climate and think carefully about the kind of gear you need here.
If you’re headed to the cities, it’s best to bring a small rolling piece of luggage with you and not much else. There are many stairs in places like Dublin. You don’t want to have to lug a heavy bag with you all the way up a flight of stairs. Pair it to the bare essentials when headed for Dublin’s museums and shopping.
Ireland can be surprisingly cold during the winter months. Pack with this realization. Bring several good sweaters, boots, and a coat with a hood. Many Irish homes and attractions do not have central heating. Bring a sweater with you’re headed inside to museums as well as outside.
Clothes to Pack
Ireland is green in part to a constant stream of rain. Rain is a given here no matter the season. You want to make sure the drizzle doesn’t get inside your things. A good raincoat for all members of your party is a must. Keep at least two umbrellas with you at all times in case one gets broken. A pair of waterproof shoes is also imperative. If you don’t have a pair, you can bring rubber covers instead. Keep a rain hat as well as sudden downpours are not uncommon. Make sure all of your luggage and any backpacks are protected from the rain.
