I’m “Scrolling” for this Class I “Saw” and Participated in

Author: Pam Wunderlin
Date of Trip: October 2015

I’ve always thought it would be fun to learn a new craft on a vacation I took. When I was in Branson, Missouri, I not only got to see wonderful shows with my husband but also had the opportunity to take a class in learning to use the scroll saw.

I had bought a scroll saw but it was still in the box and I figured I’d have to get a video or books from the library to teach myself how to use it.

I went to this lovely place called, Branson Craft Mill, and as I’m wandering about the various booths I discover this woodcraft area where all of these scroll saws are and also wonderful scroll saw projects that have been created. Standing in front of the display is a note telling that the artist would be back the next morning at 8:30.

I picked up a card that had his name and his cell phone number and it suggested that one could call him so I did and set up a class for the following Monday to attend.

I was somewhat nervous about attending, kind of shy I guess you’d say.

When I got there the man was so nice and I immediately felt comfortable and excited about this whole class. He showed me many things and described using a scroll saw was like driving a car.

I even created a few things and he said I did very well. I’m anxious now to get started on my saw since coming home.

If you’re ever in Branson and go to the Craft Mill do look his booth up and enjoy!

If you want to learn any new craft there are a lot of sites too on the internet both in the U.S.A. and internationally where you can learn something new. What fun! Life’s too short not to learn something new each day….why not let it be a craft?
